Base Requirements

Before we can erect your shed you need to have a suitable base as we do not lay bases ourselves. You can find some local compaies that will lay a base for you here.

What do I need for a base?

There is 2 important things you need for a shed base:

  1. The base needs to be level so the shed will sit properly.
  2. The base needs to be solid to prevent the shed moving when you walk in it.

What is the best type of base?

On smaller sheds (upto 8x6) you can use railway sleepers.

Slabs or concrete are the best type of base, especially for larger sheds

How many slabs do I need?

The following calculations are based on 2'x2' slabs
4'x4'= 4 slabs
6'x4'= 6 slabs
7'x5'= 12 slabs (without cutting slabs)
8'x6'= 12 slabs
8'x8'= 16 slabs
10'x8'= 20slabs
10'x6'= 15 slabs
12'x8'= 24 slabs
12'x6'= 18 slabs
14'x8'= 28 slabs

How many fence posts?

4'x4'= 3, 4' posts
6'x4'= 3, 4' posts
7'x5'= 4, 5' posts
8'x6'= 5, 6' posts
